Mach Maethlon receives funding for “Grow, Cook, Eat Together.” Initiative fosters local, seasonal eating in Dyfi Valley.

Mach Maethlon received almost £100,000 for a two-year project called “Grow, Cook, Eat Together,” aiming to encourage more people to grow food at home. The National Lottery is funding this initiative.
People can join free workshops to learn basic cooking skills, cooking with seasonal foods, and how to preserve extra vegetables. The group will also continue giving out seed packs to families with young kids, enabling them to grow food for meals at home.
Alice Read, who works for Edible Mach, said groups requested their help, and this funding allows them to expand their capabilities. They can now offer more cooking and growing activities. Families receive seed packs for meals, and workshops teach them to cook, using the Mach Veg Box project too, to create home-cooked meals.
Edible Mach, which started 13 years ago, is part of Mach Maethlon and grows food in public gardens. Anyone can harvest and enjoy the produce, connecting people to local food. Residents started Mach Maethlon with the goal of creating a strong local food system through projects and coordinating with others, with Edible Mach and Mach Veg Box being examples of their work.
