Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust receives funding to help house martins, sparrows, starlings, and swifts thrive.

These birds thrive in the Yorkshire Dales. Old buildings give them nesting spots and the local land gives them plenty of food. The project protects them because buildings are changing, and insulation and upgrades close off nest areas.
YDMT will work with two groups: the National Park Authority, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). Together, they will make new nest sites and also improve feeding areas. The project lasts three years.
The project offers training and events, and people can volunteer for it long-term. They will train people with skills to assist, and they also plan a science project. It will guide future bird protection plans.
National Park representatives are happy and want to protect the bird populations. They plan to help six local areas boost the food supply, create more nest spots, and raise awareness. The birds are vital to nature recovery.
RSPB stated they are happy to work with partners and want to improve lives for these red-listed birds. They share our homes and gardens with us, and we can help them by giving them nest places. We can manage gardens for bugs they eat.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund helps them support YDMT’s bird project. It will help the birds stay in the Dales and make more people care. Preserving bird groups across the Dales is the goal.
