Animal rescue teams saved seventy dachshunds from a neglected home. The dogs lacked food, water, and care due to owner’s hospitalization.

Rescue groups took some dogs, and the owner signed over many more. Some dogs went back to their breeders. One breeder told a newspaper about it, but wished to stay anonymous for now.
The breeder called the cottage “traumatic” and described it as “a house of horror.” He said months of neglect had caused it. The inside had urine and feces everywhere, along with junk and papers all over, too.
A sofa was ripped up, and water leaked from the kitchen tap. About 35 dogs roamed around inside freely, some were tied to one another, and others happened to be pregnant.
Food sat on bin lids with excrement, and there were no clean food or water bowls. A box held three new puppies that came from overseas via courier. Dogs in the bedroom had eye problems, and the smell of ammonia was strong.
The cottage held many dachshunds and puppies. Six puppy litters were scattered about, one litter was even in a closet, and others lived on tarpaulin there. Their mothers had eye issues as well.
The breeder reported being shocked by the conditions as it was overwhelming. They found and took their own dogs, which was tricky due to the sheer number and poor visibility inside the cottage. Other breeders and authorities arrived, and all the dogs were finally freed.
Police said no crime occurred and closed the case with no action. The RSPCA was not involved in rescuing dogs. One charity praised those who helped its team, saying it was a very difficult day for them.
Many dachshunds needed quick help, and a rescue happened due to an emergency. The dogs needed prompt relocation, as the situation’s scale was unprecedented. Some dachshunds required immediate treatment, some mothers whelped new puppies, and other animals were pregnant too. Many had other medical issues.
Dachshund lovers gave great support right away. Folks quickly drove to homes and carefully took dachshunds. Many dogs are safe since then. The charity felt amazed by the result, but the situation was heartbreaking and very sad.
