A350 expansion gets the green light. Dual carriageway to be built in Chippenham, aiming to cut travel times and boost capacity.

The construction focuses on two areas: Chequers to Lackham Roundabouts, and Bumpers Farm to Cepen Park South. Bumpers Farm Roundabout will also get upgrades; travel times could drop by 25%.
Wiltshire Council plans to start this spring and will share more details soon. The project should wrap up in winter 2026, costing around £32 million, with the government contributing £26.6 million.
The council is working with MJ Church, whom they contracted last December. They delayed the project about a year, and early work, like clearing plants, finished this year. People worry about traffic during construction.
The council will host an event so residents can meet the contractor. They will also present to the Chippenham Area Board, as the transport department funded this project.
Nick Holder said he is happy about the funding, stating they can now start the upgrades. The finished dual carriageway will help a lot, cutting traffic and boosting capacity; he looks forward to the work getting started.
