Hey, guess what’s happening on the A9! Work starts next month, around Tomatin and Moy. They are setting up traffic stuff for big road work. It all begins Monday, March 10.

This is getting ready for the A9 dualling project. A 40 mph speed limit is being put in place and it will likely stay until 2028, when the new road opens. Lanes will get narrower because of this roadwork.

They are adding temporary cameras too. These cameras will enforce the 40 mph limit. Transport Scotland says it’s for everyone’s safety and to protects drivers and workers there.

Expect temporary lights and pilot vehicles at night. This will happen for about ten nights, running Sunday to Saturday, 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM. No work is happening on Saturday nights.

Officials ask people to be careful near the area. Watch for signs and follow them carefully. They appreciate everyone’s patience during this project, they said.

The reduced speed limit makes trips a bit longer. However, it keeps drivers and workers safe. They encourage you to plan your travel early and please stick to the speed limit while driving there.

You can still walk through the area, don’t worry. Buses will still run on the route too. Bus stops are open at Tomatin Junction, both sides. Roadside rest areas will be shut down though.

Some rest areas will stay open for big trucks, but regular cars cannot use them at this spot.
