A96 through Keith closes this Sunday for Union Bridge embankment repairs expected to last until mid-May.

Amey plans to start soon, expecting to finish by mid-May. This project will take some time, as people have dealt with bridge issues for months.
The Union Bridge is a pain for drivers, as it’s on the main A96 between Aberdeen and Inverness. The river bank collapsed last July near the retaining wall. Traffic lights now cause delays there.
These delays affect the area a lot, and local businesses suffer because of the road situation. Amey met with locals and businesses this week, confirming work starts Sunday, March 2.
Amey will close the road for site work, which affects Station Road to Banff Road. The closure lasts from 8 AM to 6 PM.
Northbound traffic turns right onto the A95, following the signs to rejoin the A96 through Portsoy and Fochabers. Southbound traffic uses this route backward.
Locals inside the closure get escorts, while pedestrians can use the Auld Bridge. Starting March 3, expect traffic lights managing traffic until May 18, which allows for safe repair work.
Sometimes, they may close the road again; they will share more information if that happens. These works depend on the weather, as unfavorable weather cancels or reschedules them.
The repairs will cost around £500,000.
