The former Abertillery library on Castle Street will become mixed use office space; the plan was approved February 4th.

The library moved. Now it’s at Trinity Chapel on Church Street. It had closed before that, and they boarded it up last November due to problems with bad behavior.
It’s strange, though. We don’t know who will move in yet, but the building’s purpose will be unique. It will have offices, plus other things, too.
Think of it as mixed-use office space where professionals and financial services businesses can operate. Drawings indicate five rooms could become offices.
The old library’s new layout is interesting. It has meeting rooms and “breakout” rooms. Offices will share space with services.
The library closed in August and then reopened in September. The place is now the Trinity Chapel. Now, it is a community hub and a learning center.
Aneurin Leisure Trust runs the library. They moved it for the council. The move had been planned for months, but the old site’s future was unclear.
The council didn’t explain their need for change or give any background. There were no detailed plans or design statements.
Before, the council considered options. They had many interested parties wanting the building. Permission for the change came on February 4th.
