Hundreds flocked to Alcester for pancake races. Schools, pubs, and other groups ran on High Street.

Teams came from schools and pubs, along with other groups. They ran up and down the street, carrying pancakes in pans. Relay races occurred throughout the afternoon.
One person watched and enjoyed the weather, happy to see the schools there. They watched their son every year, thinking it is brilliant. Another person watched their granddaughter. She and her mother won before, finding it exciting and liking the weather.
Someone else looked forward to the race, thinking it was a great day. They liked events bringing people together. The town hosts many events each year.
Dave Parks, the town crier, kept things running smoothly. He talked about the day with the Herald, saying it’s a much-loved town event.
Dave said the day was fantastic. The weather was perfect for runners, and most area schools sent teams. He said everyone joined in the good event, while adults watched and supported the kids. People came from outside town, too, knowing the day is special. It is the 54th year, excluding two canceled due to Covid. People look forward to it.
Dave viewed the race from St. Nicholas Church. He saw determination on racers’ faces as people ran up the high street. He enjoyed seeing them take part, making it a special day for everyone.
