Plans to demolish The Alderman pub are approved for Harold Hill’s redevelopment project on Chippenham Road.

This demolition is part of a project. They want to fix up Harold Hill center. People worry about replacing the pub, and some are concerned about another location.
Tim Ryan is a councillor there. He wondered about older residents. He said they rely on the pub a lot and get lonely without it, he thinks.
Richard Byrne works for the council. He said a spot might open soon, in the shopping center nearby, as a temporary pub. He added the developer wants a new pub in the redone shopping center. But, nothing is final right now; that’s just their goal for now.
Bryan Vincent is another councillor. He brought up similar worries at the meeting. Another council worker spoke up then, saying it’s hard to promise a new pub.
They will have a legal agreement for it though. This agreement is for Chippenham Road. But, someone must want to run it, which could take four or five years.
They also approved something else at the meeting. It’s a plan for 138 new homes. These homes will be near Chippenham and Kings Lynn. The Alderman’s demolition will start later this year as part of the Harold Hill project.
