Rutland and Stamford MP opens a new day center in Oakham, providing support and activities for adults with disabilities.

The center is called Support and Connections Oakham. It’s located at Tungsten Park, on Panniers Way. They celebrated the opening this morning.
Alicia Kearns, a local MP, attended the event. Service users, families, and doctors also came. Everyone marked this special occasion together.
Alicia Kearns said the space is incredible and thinks lots of people will enjoy it. She noted the service will support adults really well, helping them become more independent, gain skills, and confidence.
Getting ready was fast; they got permission in November. The warehouse quickly became a workshop and store.
The center offers inclusive activities focused on each person. They already run similar things in Melton, and their Melton base is well established.
Growing Community is part of their work, providing gardening and woodworking services. They also have a cafe which offers paid work experience. People also crush cans for the Air Ambulance charity.
