A Turkish restaurant, Alim-Et, will open a second location. The new spot is in Maidstone town. Live music, like Istanbul’s Meyhane, is planned.

Alim-Et’s new dining place will open next month. They currently have a popular restaurant in Larkfield. The family decided to expand the business now.

They purchased the whole four-story building. The ground floor and basement will serve food and drinks. The other floors will remain office space.

The restaurant aimed to open in 2023, but it was delayed. High costs and planning slowed things down. Signage for Alim-Et is coming soon. The council approved them last week.

Customers can dine there next month. They will serve Turkish pastries and cakes daily. The menu has more Turkish oven dishes and offers a wider variety than Larkfield’s location.

They want to show real Turkish cooking. People think Turkish food is only kebab, but there is much more to it, she says. They want live music inspired by Istanbul’s culture, mixing tunes, mezzes, and alcohol.

A specific opening date is not yet set. They aim to open sometime in March. Sunley House became open back in 2020.

The Maidstone building was once Bar 6. Barclays Bank built it as an office in 1960. The bank left in the mid-1990s, and many bars have been there since.

Alim-Et started in Larkfield in 2017. It has a kitchen for both dine-in and takeout orders. They won “Best Takeaway” twice for the kebab awards, in 2019 and again in 2020.
