The Alloa Advertiser launches its 2025 foodbank appeal for The Gate, urging readers to donate essential food items.

They need things like pasta and tinned meat. Pasta sauces and pulses are great too. Rice (1kg bags), UHT milk, tea, and coffee are also a big help.
Jay-Anne McLaughlin runs The Gate foodbank. She thanked everyone for their support, emphasizing that even one item makes a difference. Community support is vital for their work as they rely on their readers’ support. She appreciates everyone helping Clackmannanshire.
Many local businesses support the foodbank appeal. Carpet Gallery, Tillicoultry Quarries, and Little Stars are among the sponsors. OI Glassworks and Allanwater Homes also donate, all working together to ensure no one goes without food here.
Lorna McCandlish from Carpet Gallery said they must stick together as neighbors, asking, “Who can we help, if not them?” People sometimes forget the needs that are close to home, but helping the neighborhood matters greatly.
Tillicoultry Quarries is happy to support the 2025 Foodbank Appeal. As a family business, community is important to them, and they hope their partnership helps people. They also encourage others to donate.
Little Stars wants kids to care and to help other people now. This teaches them about caring and giving, as many people take things for granted. The Gate feeds people, raises awareness, and highlights poverty and hunger issues.
OI Glassworks is also happy to support the 2025 Foodbank Appeal. Having been in the area for a long time, supporting the local community matters to them.
Allanwater Homes supports the appeal as well. They believe nobody should go hungry and fight food poverty with the Advertiser. Together, we can change lives, as food provides hope and strengthens our community.
