Antrobus House applies to convert storage into a bar for the Edmund Hall, including an outside terrace.

The house’s website touts its popularity. Couples see it as a cherished venue, considering it well-kept and much desired. The building is Grade II-listed, and the Edmund Hall is its largest space. It holds 100 seated guests for meals, with evening receptions hosting 150 people.
The trust wants to create a bar to serve events in the hall. They applied for permission to convert storage areas and the plan includes a new opening, connecting the hall to the bar. They also want to build an outside terrace.
Favonius Architects submitted a statement, representing the trust. The trust wants to link storage areas to create a bar for the Edmund Hall. The store areas once served distinct purposes; one was the caretaker’s kitchen, and the other was a storeroom.
A new opening is planned from the bar, leading into the Edmund Hall. The current door will be replaced, opening to a terrace. This terrace will extend from the hall, overlooking the Bowling Green.
They will remove a wall between the stores, creating a bar area. There will be chairs and small tables, and a fireplace will stay, acting as a feature in the new bar.
The bar will only open during hall events and access will only be through the hall. Wiltshire Council seeks public comment, and the application number is PL/2025/01237. Comments are due by March 13.
