Online fundraiser supports building a special new enclosure at Tropiquaria Zoo for Bode the rescued bobcat. Donations exceed expectations.

An online fundraiser helped make it happen, quickly surpassing its first goal of £3,500. It has now hit a new goal of £4,500. Over 200 people have donated nearly £5,500 so far.
Tropiquaria Zoo is giving Bode a permanent home because Director Chris Moiser rescued Bode right before vets were going to euthanize him. A court case closed a big cat place in Hertfordshire.
To make space for Bode’s new area, they are taking down a pen that previously housed two pairs of raccoon dogs. Visitors could potentially see him by Easter.
The raccoon dogs will move to a new, larger pen on the other side of the zoo. Workers are making it bigger and added a strong beam for the roof.
Moiser said putting in the beam was hard. The foundation posts are now in, and they will start the walls and roof soon. They want to finish quickly so the raccoon dogs can move and they can build Bode’s enclosure.
They are a little over budget now, but they still want to do it well and make something special. The fundraiser is still running and with donations, they can add extra things that weren’t possible at first.
