Plans submitted to revamp Armagh Methodist Church, including removing 20 pews for a heating upgrade and Lynn Hall repairs.

The church isn’t new to renovations. They laid its first stone in 1835, on Abbey Street. Improvements happened over time, making it big enough to hold 500 people. It was the district’s largest back then.
If approved, repairs will improve the church inside. They will replace the heating with electric, requiring the removal of twenty pews. This makes space for the new heating pipes, as the new system requires this change.
The project fixes plaster cracks on walls. They plan to paint the walls, ceiling, and wood. Cracked lobby tiles will be replaced, with new matching tiles planned alongside the entrance matting. A crack near the pulpit will also be fixed.
Lynn Hall changes seem larger, needing repairs and paint inside. New floors are also planned. The committee wants new toilets, including male and female restrooms with baby changing units.
Acoustic panels may go in the community room. They will add electrical outlets to power a TV screen. The social room might get an upgrade, with one corner becoming an exhibit area furnished with a built-in cupboard and soft seating.
The application will be advertised later.
