Hey, guess what’s happening! They’re tearing down the community hall in Ballynahonemore. It’s on Hamiltonsbawn Road in Armagh. A new, bigger hall is going in its place. They even got permission to do it all.

The project includes a car park, and they also plan to build retaining walls. CT Lindsay Chartered Architect Ltd is handling things, working for the community association, which is actually the Orange Hall.

The new building will replace the current one and will include a parking area. They will level the ground to make it easier to get to the entrance, and the new hall’s floor will be lower than the old one.

The new hall will be twice the size with way better stuff inside. The old hall is about 110 square meters with a small shed of about 9 square meters behind it.

The new hall will be about 229 square meters. While the old hall has a porch, hall, kitchen, and bathrooms, the new layout includes many improvements for everyone.

You’ll see a hallway, a main hall, and two storage rooms. A kitchen and meeting room are also planned, along with new bathrooms and a boiler room. No parking exists there now.

The plan includes five parking spots, one of which is for people with disabilities. They are replacing an old building with a new one that will have better amenities for everyone.

The new hall helps meet the community’s needs and is appropriate for the area. Though bigger, it’s not too big for the site, and lower ground levels reduce its size impact.

The design matches nearby buildings, featuring a porch and a pitched roof. The building materials also fit the area, and new vehicle access and parking are included.

Officials checked and had no concerns. The hall hosts a lot of activities now. Members meet each month during winter, with meetings more often in summer.

They have social events all year. A pensioners’ club meets on Tuesdays, band practice happens weekly from January to September, and a darts team plays there often. People can also rent it for events.

Daily attendance should increase, with expectations to jump from 14 to 28 people. It sounds like the updated hall will really help the community.
