Man arrested at Brent Cross West after attempting to steal a phone as train doors closed. Assault on worker followed.

This incident occurred during a police operation. London police focused on phone theft that week, aiming to stop robberies in the city. BTP made twenty-one arrests in all, ten of which involved phone theft or robbery.
One suspect was arrested at his home on January 22. This arrest related to a December robbery attempt that occurred between Wandsworth Common and Clapham Junction train stations. Officers also made arrests near Finsbury Park, where fourteen people were apprehended.
A man was arrested at Seven Sisters station on January 21. During the arrest, police found a knife, drugs, and cash. On January 23, officers arrested three teens after teenagers reported they were robbed of phones and a jacket.
BTP prioritizes public safety and aims to reduce theft on trains. Chief Inspector Kelly oversaw the operation, stating they are working hard to achieve these goals. Increased police presence makes stealing more difficult, and robbery rates have dropped from the past year.
People will see officers patrolling often, some in uniform and others not. Plain-clothed officers will also be present to further deter theft. The ultimate goal of the police is to stop phone theft.
