A 42-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 63-year-old man died following an assault in Lewisham.

Hey, something happened in Lewisham. A man sadly died after an assault. Police got called to Lewisham High Street around 8:30 PM on Saturday.

They found a 63-year-old man hurt really badly. Paramedics took him to the hospital. Sadly, he passed away there. His family now knows.

Apparently, the man got hurt after a fight at The Watch House pub. Police arrested a 42-year-old nearby. They think he might have committed murder. He is still in police custody.

He’s at a police station in south London. A detective, Craig Magee, spoke about the incident. He wants anyone with info to come forward. He is especially interested in people at the pub.

Police spent the night gathering evidence. There will be more police around today. DCI Magee understands people are worried. He says they have a suspect and the public is safe.
