Drunk driver crashed in Ashford trying to avoid a ticket. He is now banned from driving. Fine and fees must be paid.

Krishna Thapa has three kids and parked illegally in Ashford. On January 27th, he had a beer there then decided to move his Vauxhall Corsa to a legal parking space.
This move turned out to be reckless. The 46-year-old didn’t stop soon enough and, at a junction, hit another vehicle. Police quickly arrived at the accident scene where Thapa failed a breathalyzer test.
They arrested and charged him with the crime. He went to court on February 12th in Folkestone, England. The prosecutor, Terry Knox, stated Thapa drove in Ashford on the ring-road.
He reached the Albert Road petrol station junction and didn’t stop at the right time, causing his car to hit another. The other driver inquired if he drank alcohol, and Thapa admitted to having one beer that day.
At the police station, a test revealed 54 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of his breath, exceeding England’s legal limit of 35. The prosecutor emphasized that the crash made the situation worse.
Simon Pettican, defending Thapa, told the court it was a stupid act. He highlighted that Thapa has three children and a wife who is unable to drive at all.
He had a clean record prior to this incident. Pettican stated in court that Thapa knew his car was parked illegally, so he drove to park it legally nearby.
Thapa pled guilty to drunk driving. He received a 14-month driving ban and a £120 fine. The court also ordered him to pay £48 and £85 in additional costs.
