Ashford Borough Council plans to demolish Park Mall and the Edinburgh Road car park for redevelopment, starting with temporary parking.

The council owns both sites, you know. Ashford Borough Council wants to replace them with a car park. This will be temporary, though. They are thinking of what to build there.
Park Mall has been losing stores lately. Wilko closed in 2022. The council wants to build homes there eventually. The amount isn’t clear now.
The council says Park Mall is losing money. They bought the mall freehold recently. That happened at the end of January 2025. It was built in the 1980s.
Demolishing Park Mall should cut losses. It will also boost redevelopment of the area. They plan this for the town center overall. The council now controls the land plans totally.
They will apply to get permission to demolish the buildings. Tenants need to leave Park Mall by October 2025. The council will help some move to other spots.
Three stores facing Upper High Street will stay. These are O2, Kamsons, and Greggs. They have longer leases and will not be demolished. Their presence is okay for redevelopment.
