Luke Knight from Ashford threatened to hire a hitman to kill a female officer after phoning Kent Police.

During these calls, Knight admitted seeking revenge, telling a dispatcher a hitman would harm her. Police arrested Knight quickly, and he appeared in court the next day, charged with making menacing public communications.
His sentencing was delayed until February 12. It was revealed Knight had a stalking conviction that occurred in 2022. Court papers showed two stalking victims, a man and a woman, but it’s unclear if the officer was one of the victims.
Knight’s prior sentence was a community order, including electronic tagging and a curfew. Prosecutor Terry Knox described Knight’s recent calls; the calls to 999 happened on December 12.
The first 999 call was at 11:26 PM. Knight was angry and threatened hiring a hitman. Three minutes later, he called again, saying he would spit blood on an officer and restating his threat about the hitman.
The dispatcher told Knight the call was recorded, to which he responded that he knew it and that’s why he was making those statements. Knight admitted he wanted revenge during an interview.
The dispatcher gave a victim impact statement, feeling shocked by Knight’s threats; he even named the female officer. She stated she shouldn’t face such threats at work.
The court heard Knight felt remorseful and did not mean to scare anyone. He got a 12-month community order and must complete 20 rehabilitation sessions. He will also pay £150 to the dispatcher, covering the distress he caused.
Plus, Knight must pay a £114 victim surcharge. He also owes £85 in court costs, paying £20 per month. He receives government benefits to cover expenses. The hearing never revealed what provoked Knight’s threats.
