Council approves repair of Ayr Cemetery gate damaged by a vehicle, ensuring safety and historical accuracy.

The cemetery entrance has three arches, two for walkers and the middle arch for cars. The walls and gates are locally important. So, the council applied to fix the damaged gate because it was super heavy and dangerous.
To keep people safe, the council took it away fast and moved the broken gate to a metalworker’s place. They examined the gate closely there and had to take it apart to handle it safely. Now, it’s in many pieces.
Also, the gate’s drop bolt broke completely too. They plan to make a new bolt that will look just like the old one. The gates will be black again, as before, ensuring the designs match the originals.
The council agreed with the repair plans, saying they would protect the gates and prevent more decay. These repairs keep the gates looking original, and the work suits listed buildings perfectly.
The repairs keep the original look, maintaining the shape, size, and style. Also, the repairs match the gates’ existing look. The work won’t hurt the gates or the cemetery, which improves the place overall.
