Residents in Ayr’s Lochside report a rat problem by Braehead Primary due to uncollected, tagged bins.

Rodents now run near the school walls. Kids are scared and avoid the streets. The council said they knew about the problem and removed abandoned bins on February 12th.
One local called it a “nightmare.” The council said too many folks had extra bins. They tagged these bins, refusing pickup, but then they did nothing with them. Waste rotted for a month.
The council told people to get rid of waste, yet they tagged the bins in the first place. Kids can’t play outside because of the rats. Kids scream when they spot rodents near school.
Ross Street and Gould Street have issues. Lochside Road deals with it, too, and it affects other parts of the Lochside estate. The council says many homes have extra green bins.
Crews tagged these bins to notify residents. Some residents asked about the tagged bins. The council gave them forms for a second bin if they met certain conditions. Some residents did not apply for a second bin. Their bins were left sitting on the street.
The council denies telling people to throw out their waste. A crew removed the tagged bins from footpaths in Lochside on Wednesday morning. Some folks complained about rats in Lochside; the council is working on those few cases.
