Council approves snack bar plan in Ayr lay-by but requires daily removal after trading to address permanence concerns.

The snack bar would be open six days, Monday through Saturday. The hours would be 7:30 am to 3 pm, according to documents.
They will sell various food items, including hot and cold rolls, baked potatoes, hot soup, tea, and coffee. Cold drinks and candy will also be available.
Council planners gave initial approval, stating it offers a convenient roadside stop for passing drivers.
The plan included a fence to create a secure compound area for overnight storage. This was intended to store the snack bar safely.
However, officials disagreed with this plan, saying a permanent structure went against rules and didn’t fit with current planning policies.
They approved it with one condition: the snack bar must leave each night after trading ends daily.
The permission is for two years only, as officials want to monitor the operation and check for problems to ensure “no adverse impacts.”
Planners added another rule about tidiness, requiring the lay-by area to stay clean where the snack bar trades. Each day, waste removal is essential, and all litter must be removed from the lay-by, including waste from the business.
