ScotRail is changing ticket office hours at Ayrshire train stations starting March 31st. No job losses are expected.
ScotRail saw many more online and machine sales in 2021, and noticed fewer people buying tickets at ticket offices. Sales at ticket offices dropped 50% in ten years. ScotRail says no one will lose their job.
The changes start on March 31st. You will hear announcements at stations beforehand. Messages will also inform passengers before then.
Here are the new hours for Ayrshire stations. Ayr will be open Monday to Saturday, 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Sunday hours are 8:40 AM to 8:00 PM.
Girvan will be open Monday to Saturday, 7:20 AM to 12:30 PM. Girvan will be closed on Sundays. Glengarnock will change, too.
Glengarnock will be open from Monday to Thursday, 7:10 AM to 12:00 PM. Friday hours are 7:10 AM to 1:30 PM. Saturday hours are 8:45 AM to 1:50 PM. Sunday hours are closed.
Irvine’s new times are Monday to Thursday, 6:10 AM to 5:45 PM. Friday’s hours are 6:10 AM to 6:45 PM. Saturday is 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Sunday is 9:10 AM to 4:30 PM.
Kilmarnock’s hours will be Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Friday will be 6:30 AM to 7:45 PM. Saturday is 7:15 AM to 6:15 PM. Sunday is from 9:10 AM to 4:50 PM.
Kilwinning will be open Monday to Thursday, 6:05 AM to 8:00 PM. Friday to Saturday is 6:40 AM to 8:00 PM. Sunday is 8:50 AM to 7:00 PM.
Largs will be open Monday to Thursday, 6:15 AM to 1:30 PM. Friday’s hours are 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Saturday is 7:45 AM to 7:30 PM. Sunday is 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Prestwick Town is open Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 1:45 PM. Friday will be 6:45 AM to 3:30 PM. Saturday is 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Sunday is 9:30 AM to 2:15 PM.
Saltcoats will be open Monday to Thursday, 6:45 AM to 12:00 PM. Friday’s hours are 7:30 AM to 2:15 PM. Saturday hours are 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM. Sunday is 10:15 AM to 1:00 PM.
Troon will be open Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 1:15 PM. Friday’s hours are 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Saturday is 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM. Sunday is 10:15 AM to 2:00 PM.
