Local Berkshire start-up Bags of Hope, which supports cancer patients with free bags, nominated for “Best New Start-Up” award.

Lindsey Lucas, a co-founder, is thrilled about the nomination and thanks the volunteers and partners. Carol Anne Doyle, also a co-founder, says it validates their idea. They plan to expand a lot, fast too, as extra support matters a lot to them. Carol knows this from her cancer fight.
Someone in the UK gets cancer every two minutes. Therefore, the need for help keeps growing. Volunteers sew each bag by hand, using donated fabric for sustainability. Anyone in treatment can get a free bag, regardless of cancer type.
The awards, the Thames Valley awards program, are a big deal locally. They reward success in many fields and value things like diversity. The winners will be declared this month at the event on February 28 in Reading. Their email and Instagram are BAGSOFHOPE247.
