Hours extension for Balmoral storage refused due to noise concerns. The rule remains restricting truck traffic times.

The current rule limits truck traffic. Trucks can move 7 AM to 11 PM, Monday through Saturday. Sundays and holidays allow 10 AM to 4 PM. The company wished to change this schedule. This storage site sits near Clive Way.
It’s also close to Imperial Way and Colonial Way. Holly Industrial Estate is nearby.
Officials said dropping the hour limit is bad. It could both bother people living close to it and also make too much noise for them. Officials think the company didn’t prove it.
They believe noise could significantly harm residents. The company sent a noise report with their request. However, the report reached a different conclusion than officials.
Their report says more truck noise won’t hurt. It would be just 3dB louder than background noise. The company felt the rule was unnecessary and wanted it gone. People living close by didn’t like the idea.
Twenty neighbors were asked during a review process. One person complained about more noise. The person wrote about sleep problems. They also worry about health issues from the noise. Construction nearby already adds to the noise.
The storage place must keep the current hours.
