A woman from Banff just turned 100! Billie Heinrich celebrated with family and friends. The day marked a big milestone for her.

Andrew Simpson visited Billie at Doocot View. He is the Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire. Andrew gave Billie a card from The King. Billie thinks an active life helped her reach 100. She kept both her body and mind sharp.

Billie Innes was born in Macduff on February 3, 1925. She had seven older siblings. Billie grew up and went to school there. She attended Macduff Primary and then high school. After school, she worked in finance and accounting.

Billie met her husband at a dance. Wladyslaw was stationed at Duff House after World War Two ended. They married in Macduff in April 1947. They moved to Banff and had two daughters, Yvonne and Anne. Later on, they also had two granddaughters.

The couple ran a photography business. Wladyslaw took the photos, and Billie managed the shop and the books. After they closed their shop, Billie worked at Lawrence Garage in Whitehills.

Her daughter Anne shared some facts. Billie helped with the local lifeboat. She sewed and knitted very well. Billie also enjoyed baking, having guests, and stayed active by walking and playing sports. She liked badminton, tennis, and cycling. Her and her husband loved to dance.

Billie has many good friends. She is social and has strong faith. She still enjoys dominoes and card games. She loves when friends bring their dogs to visit.

She is now in a wheelchair. The carers at Doocot View saw her wanting to dance during a recent Burns lunch. They helped her sway to the music, which made her very happy! Wladyslaw passed away in 2015. Billie then moved twice before Doocot View.

She had a party to celebrate her birthday at her housing complex. Family and friends came to celebrate. They had a piper, a tea party, and a special birthday cake.
