Plans submitted for new paint and signs at 3 Risbygate Street for Bar Twenty One in Bury St Edmunds.

Neil Hawes made the request. He wants to update the outside, which is in Bury St Edmunds, to soon become “Bar Twenty One.” The opening is planned for March 28th.
Neil Hawes and Gareth Harper are partners who are spending £200,000 to redo the space. It will be their second bar location; they already own a “Bar Twenty One” in Ipswich on St Helen’s Street.
The building’s exterior will get a new paint color called “constable hay” from the Suffolk Colour Palette. The color choice suits the building’s history and also fits the area’s look.
A “Bar Twenty One” sign is coming that will have a backwards R. Another sign saying “2X10+1” is planned too.
The signs should respect the building by using traditional materials and avoiding damage. They consulted with the council beforehand, and the new color fits the street better.
A decision about the permit is coming April 26.
