Care home battles pests after construction nearby Exterminators are working to ensure resident safety.

The care home says nearby building and cold weather made it worse. It is dealing with a past pest control issue, and Havering Council knew about an earlier problem.
The council said they run the home separately. Their team knew of the earlier issue, and the home said they planned to fix it. Now, they will check on things again.
Barleycroft works with Rentokil for pest control. Abbey Healthcare’s Sarah Willits spoke about it. They know people have worries and take it seriously.
Ms. Willits stated that they saw more pests. This happened after construction and colder weather started. They quickly increased Rentokil’s visits to help. Furthermore, they are fixing possible entry points.
They also assured no residents were bitten and that the pests are mice. It was also noted that Rentokil saw no sign of rats there.
Sarah Willits stated they will fix it fast. They will use resources for residents’ safety and will work with Rentokil to solve it.
The Care Quality Commission did not comment, although they are dedicated to resident safety. They will solve it soon and are using all resources.
