Vale of Glamorgan Council partners with Next Colour to redevelop Nell’s Point, aiming to revitalize Barry Island with shops.

Loungers, a coffee shop, will take one of the spaces. They have many locations, even in Penarth. People like them for food all day. Work will soon start on Nell’s Point old toilets.
The council says famous shops want to open there. The space is 4,000 square feet and they will have great views. You can see Whitmore Bay and the Severn Estuary. It’s right on the Wales Coast Path.
The project was delayed before because Covid-19 caused issues. They also checked the building’s safety. Lis Burnett leads the Vale Council and she said the work is finally happening.
She knows there were problems because the pandemic was a big challenge. They worked with Next Colour and they wanted to move fast. They want to improve the area.
The plan is to fix up the old toilets. It should take ten months but Cadw’s approval is needed first. James Morse leads Next Colour and he noted the project was difficult.
Covid-19 hurt restaurants and the old building had problems. They needed solutions before starting. The council, Next Colour, and Loungers helped a lot.
Morse hopes for progress soon. He wants restaurants to open soon too. Everyone is working together to finish it, and the project will improve Barry Island.
