Barry council approves farm requests but rejects 12 flats due to housing rules and size issues. Other plans get the green light.

Three requests for Cole Farm, located at 9 Cold Knap Way, Barry, got approved. These requests dealt with conditions covering materials, chimney details, and roof work specifics. The council liked the provided information, and the planning references are 2024/00769/FUL, and others.
However, a plan for 12 flats at the vacant building at 163 Holton Road failed. The council cited a lack of affordable housing and unmet Section 106 rules. Further, plans showed small flats lacking enough space, and the project seemed too big for the site.
A plan passed for 15 Blyth Close, adding a story onto the side. Work must start in five years, following the approved plans, plus the en-suite window must stay frosted and cannot open after installation.
Another plan at Walterston also won, replacing a bad conservatory at Trewallter Fawr with a new kitchen. Work must also begin within five years per the plan. They need photos of the changing areas, and roof, window, and door plans require approval before starting.
Lastly, four flats at Regenerate It, 20-22 Holton Road, got approved, converting the first floor to flats. The council initially said no in March 2024, but an appeal changed that decision. Work needs to begin within five years, with construction matching the approved blueprints. Outdoor space details, including bins and bike storage, must still be approved, and a plan is also needed to help the wildlife.
