Plans seek to transform the vacant club into a vibrant center with shops, a café, and community spaces.

Kirklees Council will decide on new plans that aim to give the building new life. If approved, it will become “Heeleys Batley,” with a café/bar and seating planned for the ground floor. They also want a meeting room, kitchen, and retail units.
Classrooms and reading spaces will fill the middle floor. Above that, an “enchanted library” will reside, alongside a market hall for artisan vendors. The second floor will hold offices for staff.
The site will have an accessible entrance, and they plan for fifty-eight parking spots. Artwork, created by local schools on concrete blocks, will be on display in the parking area.
The applicant thinks this will revitalize the building, allowing new businesses to bring it back to life. It could again become a landmark for Batley, and the project will also form a community hub.
The design includes retail units, a café, and a library. These additions will bring businesses there and should improve the building’s social and economic value, which will also revitalize Batley Market Place.
Kirklees Council should decide by February 13th; this is the target date for their big decision.
