Children from Battenhall Nursery visited Mount Battenhall, engaging with residents through stories and fun activities.

The children sat on blankets as residents told them interesting stories. They read “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt”. Julia Donaldson’s “Detective Dog” was also read.
The kids loved joining in. They knew the stories well and repeated phrases and did actions. Lively fun filled the atmosphere.
Resident Jilly was there too, bringing her seventy-year-old teddy bear, Patsy. Jilly shared memories of Patsy.
Kiri Turner, who manages Battenhall Nursery, spoke about the visit, noting that the children really liked story time at Mount Battenhall.
It was a great learning chance for the kids to improve social skills. Communication grew as they interacted with new people, making different connections.
The children enjoyed stories and treats, sharing biscuits with residents. Everyone felt it was a heartwarming time and wanted to do it again.
Tom Newitt works at Mount Battenhall and welcomed the children as part of Storytelling Week. The nursery staff came too.
These events help everyone involved, as both young and old benefit greatly. They saw friendships form over books. These books were classic tales.
The Literacy Trust runs Storytelling Week, which happens every year to celebrate stories because sharing stories matters to them.
