A Bedwas store owner wants to extend his alcohol sales hours. Concerns voiced by health officials, countered by police support.

Right now, he can sell alcohol from 8 AM to 11 PM, Monday to Saturday. Sundays are shorter, running from 10 AM to 10:30 PM. Regular folks didn’t complain about his plan.
A health officer is worried, though. They think it will bother neighbors and suggested 8 AM to 11 PM instead. This would match nearby shops, and longer hours would be a bad example, they said.
Other groups weren’t as worried about the store. Gwent Police didn’t object to the longer hours but want more CCTV and small license changes. The council trading people agreed with the police, and the licensing people also see eye-to-eye. Amar agreed with these suggestions too.
The council meets on February 13th. They will talk about the plan, listen to arguments for and against it, and the committee decides then.
