Six Berkshire volunteer groups receive the King’s Award for outstanding community service and dedication.

This award celebrates great volunteers. They announced the winners on the King’s birthday in November 2024. Six groups received the prize this year. Some winners include Cianna’s Smile and Freely Fruity.
Cianna’s Smile helps people with sickle cell. They also work to raise awareness about it. Freely Fruity plants fruit trees in the community and gives fresh fruit to local food banks.
Loose Ends Newbury also won an award. They’ve been helping vulnerable people for 34 years, providing meals and other support. Newbury Riding for the Disabled earned recognition too, letting disabled children ride horses.
Soulscape got an award for youth support. They help young people with workshops. These workshops help them deal with problems. The Baby Bank was honored as well.
The Baby Bank started back in 2015. They give support to families facing hardship. Their beneficiaries grew by sixty percent recently, helping way more people.
Each group got a crystal. Also, the King signed their certificate. Volunteers came to the ceremony, as well as supporters and dignitaries from the county.
