Burnley BID hosted a special event recently, celebrating local staff, shops, businesses, and service providers. Hospitality venues also received recognition.

Over 90 Burnley stores faced mystery shoppers last year. Judges and public votes then determined the winners. The awards ceremony occurred at Burnley’s Mechanics Theatre on Thursday, February 6th.

Laura Diffey, Burnley BID’s Project Manager, called it a fantastic celebration. She saw passionate individuals and great businesses recognized, adding that the atmosphere was brilliant.

The awards highlighted the town’s appeal, showing that Burnley is a special place where people can shop, dine, and visit, she said.

Florist Lancashire won Independent Retailer of the Year. Bar Mojitos secured Licensed Premise of the Year and The Palazzo, an Italian restaurant, got Best Food Business.

Several independent businesses won top awards. Long Serving Business went to Haffners Pies and Butchery. Sweet William Florist was named Ambassador of the Year, and Althams Travel won for Commitment to Burnley.

Althams Travel’s Manager, Avril Duckworth, expressed happiness and pride in working there since 1874. She says Burnley is really blooming.

Next won National Retailer of the Year, while TUI received the Service Provider of the Year award. National retailers were thus also commended at the ceremony.

Skipton Building Society won Overall Business of the Year. Jamie Ninnis, from The Perfume Shop, got Employee of the Year. Many individuals were recognized.

Skipton Building Society’s Manager, Imran Najeeb, felt proud and thanked his team and their members. Jamie Ninnis thanked her manager, Danielle, and expressed her love for helping customers every day.

Burnley BID represents town center groups. Retail, hospitality, and service sectors all benefit.
