Bexley is dropping the speed limit on two roads: Picardy Manorway and Bronze Age Way. The new speed limit will be 30 mph, reduced from 50 mph.

This change allows JSM Group to perform necessary work, connecting to the grid and working on cables for safety during construction.

On Picardy Manorway, the reduction starts at Norman Road’s junction and extends to the horse roundabout by Anderson Way in Belvedere. Bronze Age Way’s new limit begins at the same horse roundabout and ends at Queens Road in Erith.

These limits begin on Thursday, February 20, and could last up to eighteen months, though the expected work duration is only 23 days.

You cannot use alternative routes during this time. The reduced speed only applies when indicated by signs, signaling when to slow down.

Emergency vehicles and vehicles used for the road work are exempt from these new limits, meaning they do not have to adhere to the changes.

This is part of a traffic order for 2025: the Temporary Restriction of Vehicular Traffic Order, authorized by the Road Traffic Regulation Act of 1984.

Andrew Bashford, Head of Highways, Traffic, and Infrastructure, signed the notice on February 12, 2025, approving the changes.
