A biker injured his girlfriend performing wheelies at Newport East Retail Park, colliding with a car. He received a suspended sentence.

This happened at the East Retail Park in Newport on Docks Way. Around 200 people and 50 vehicles had gathered there.
Jenkins’ partner wasn’t wearing a helmet and was knocked unconscious when they hit the car, Cardiff Crown Court heard. Judge Celia Hughes said the woman flew across the car’s hood and landed in bushes several feet away.
The woman broke her pelvis and stayed in the hospital one night before recovering well. Her injuries were thankfully not life-changing.
The Fiesta driver suffered soft tissue damage to the lower back because of the crash, which occurred on March 31 around 9:45 p.m. Jenkins pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
Eyewitnesses saw the motorbike rider repeatedly riding around the car park and doing wheelies. Women took turns riding on the back without helmets, but Jenkin’s lawyer, Hannah Friedman, said his girlfriend was the only passenger that night.
His lawyer also said he had a good record with no prior convictions, and that he and the woman are still together. However, Judge Hughes said his actions lost his good character, which might affect his future job prospects.
He lost his driver’s license, which he treasured because he used it for work and to care for his family. More importantly, he hurt his girlfriend badly, damaged another person’s car, and could easily have changed her life.
Jenkins received an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for one year. He must do 100 hours of unpaid work, cannot drive for 18 months, and must pass an extended driving retest. He must also pay the Fiesta driver £200 and £150 for prosecution costs. He lives on Manor Road, Pontllanfraith, Blackwood.
