Dorothy Chiles, 87, died after an assault at Birmingham New Street. Police investigate, seeking witnesses in the manslaughter case.

Dorothy left the hospital afterward, but sadly, she died at her home on December 27th. Her family gave a statement on February 12th saying Dorothy brought them “endless joy.”
She was the heart of their family, and her energy always lifted everyone’s spirits. She remained active at 87 years old, enjoying gardening and driving. Dorothy helped her family whenever they needed her, and they all loved her dearly.
The family said Dorothy faced violence and fought hard after the attack. But her injuries were unfortunately too severe, and they are devastated by her loss. Dorothy was a mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
She was also a vital best friend who acted as a guiding light always, and her memory will endure forever. Police did a post-mortem exam, but the cause of Dorothy’s death is unclear. However, police think it relates to the assault and keep investigating the situation.
Police arrested a woman in her twenties who was first held for causing serious harm. Now, she is suspected of manslaughter, but they released her with conditions. Police want to talk to a male witness who is a tall White man in his early thirties.
The man had a short goatee and glasses with a black frame. He wore a brown beanie and a dark peacoat. Also, he wore beige chinos and dark gloves. He carried a light grey scarf, black shoes, and a black rucksack.
An inspector expressed his condolences, stating this event was shocking. He asked everyone to give the family privacy as they are enduring a very difficult time. The investigation continues currently. The inspector urged all witnesses to speak up. He especially wants the man mentioned to come forward to help with the enquiry.
