Faulty market door repair delayed. Traders await fix of the troublesome entrance on Church Street.

The council knew about the faulty door set. They planned repairs for February 12, Wednesday. This door faces HSBC and many use it.
Martin Eden said the doors had issues recently and didn’t automatically close after use. This coincided with very cold weather. The repair was delayed as the contractor waited for necessary parts.
The council appreciated the nearby traders’ patience. The market team kept them updated. The lift broke, but is now fixed.
Councillor Altaf ‘Tiger’ Patel talked to unhappy traders. He’s a taxi driver there regularly and glad they fixed it. Traders stood in the cold for hours, which was bad for them, and shoppers also suffered.
One trader said they waited for parts and used a heater to stay warm. Other traders were also very unhappy, as it got pretty cold. The council said the lift is working again.
The Mall owners oversee the lift and escalators. These connect the market to the center.
