The new Al-Buraq masjid had its grand opening Saturday. Hundreds of folks from Lancashire came to celebrate. The mosque is on Devonport Road. Massive fundraising made it happen.

People gathered near Devonport Road around midday, and many crowded the entrance. Mosque leaders joined volunteers to cut the ribbon. People raised money for seven years through walks, treks, and by taking donations.

The building replaces the old education center and serves as a place for prayers. Most worshippers live nearby, and visitors enjoyed sunny weather. They walked down an alley to the mosque, which sits behind houses.

One visitor called it a beautiful moment, saying people worked hard for years and calling it a dream come true. Another called it an emotional journey. Blackburn MP Adnan Hussain attended, and Phil Riley, council leader, joined too. Deputy leader Quesir Mahmood was present, along with local council members.

The opening occurred over two days, with Sunday including a women’s event. The mosque thanks the volunteers and donors and appreciates the elders’ support. Volunteers of all ages inspired the project. The mosque might not be the biggest, but the designers used the space well. Sheykh Lokman Efendi visited from New York.

Sheykh Lokman is a spiritual leader who leads the Osmanli Naksibendi group. The mosque has a prayer hall, a funeral area, and a women’s zone. The mosque features an Islamic Museum holding rare Islamic items, including Ottoman era artifacts. An original Kaaba key, over 100 years old, is there.

A Kiswah cloth, which covered the Kaaba and dates back to the early 1800s, is on show. Over 20 artifacts are displayed, and many have never been seen in the UK. The museum hopes to teach culture and attract schools and groups. The mosque could start a food bank and secure donations from businesses. They plan to work with charities and support people of all faiths.
