Rovers host an event, marking 80 years since Barbara Castle became Blackburn’s MP, and honouring local women champions.

They will present the Barbara Castle Woman of the Year Award. One special woman will get this award that night. She will show the same spirit as Barbara Castle.
The winner comes from the women in the ‘Role of Honour’.
Tickets are ready now for the event. It takes place at Ewood Park soon.
Richard McCann will give a speech. He founded the iCan Academy, and his story matches the town’s work. They want to stop violence against women and want a caring community. Kiki deVille is a TV star and will provide entertainment.
You get a two-course meal there, which showcases Blackburn’s food. They will reveal the Woman of the Year Award, honoring a great woman from Blackburn’s Role of Honour.
Tickets cost £25 each. A table for ten is also an option, allowing businesses or community groups to celebrate together.
Elaine Whittingham helps organize things, stating that we should honor women in our area. They lead and make changes; these actions matter, big or small.
Gary Robinson heads the Rovers Community Trust, and they support the event because women are key in every area, including sports and business. He looks forward to a great night, as Ewood Park will host the event.
The council got over 50 nominations. People do charity work locally, and some people are just kind neighbors, while others are community supporters. Nominations end on February 28; you just need a photo and about 150 words about your nominee.
Nominees get shown online. A special page will show them all, and social media will share their work. This highlights the difference they create.
