Haseeb Aziz, 19, received 16 weeks jail time and an 18-month driving ban for driving while disqualified.

Aziz is 19 years old and lives on Canterbury Street in Blackburn. He admitted to driving while disqualified on Hodgson Street in Oswaldtwistle.
The court sentenced him to 16 weeks in jail. They also banned him from driving for 18 months, starting after his current ban ends.
He already has a four-year driving ban from dangerous driving in 2022. He must retake an extended test later.
Glenn Anderton, speaking for the prosecution, described how a police officer saw Aziz driving a Renault Clio. The patrol officer did a routine check and found Aziz was the only person in the car that night.
The Clio turned several times, making the officer suspect the driver was avoiding him. Then, the Clio entered an alley, and the driver jumped from it while it was still moving.
“The car hit a wall as a result,” said Mr. Anderton. “Then Aziz ran away from the scene.” The police dog helped find Aziz, and the officer detained him nearby quickly.
Mr. Anderton shared that Aziz has seven convictions and has never held a driver’s license.
Daniel Frazer defended Aziz in court, stating that Aziz needs to change his behavior.
Frazer noted that previous jail sentences did not help. “They don’t seem to be working at all,” he said. Frazer added, “I asked him why he drove,” but Aziz couldn’t answer acceptably.
