The data lists fourteen crime types. Five types increased, while nine types decreased during this time. Here’s a rundown of a few changes I noticed.

Violence and sexual offences fell by 12.67%. Anti-social behaviour dropped by 10.26%. Criminal damage and arson went down 11.81%. Vehicle crime decreased a lot, by 24.74%. Shoplifting actually went up by 3.19%.

Other theft dropped 5.81%. Public order fell slightly, down 3.07%. Burglaries decreased sharply, by half which seems good. Other crimes dropped 31.11%.

Drug offenses rose, up 12.82%. Weapon possessions fell 16.66%. Robbery increased significantly, up 50%. Theft from people rose 25%. Bicycle theft went from zero to two incidents.

Other East Lancashire boroughs also saw crime drops. Rossendale had the biggest decrease, 18.39%. Pendle’s crime rate fell 6.07%. Burnley saw a 5.09% decrease in crime. Hyndburn had a slight decrease of 0.64%. Ribble Valley was the only area with a rise. Crime there jumped 20.23%. That’s the latest crime information locally.
