A Blackpool jobs fair on February 27, 2025, aims to fill 1,000 roles in hospitality and other sectors, boosting local employment.

Big businesses will be there, including Pleasure Beach Resort and The Grand Theatre. Choice Hotels, Haven Holidays, Premier Inn, and Hampton by Hilton are also planning to attend. They will chat and do interviews, with some potentially hiring people that day, while others may call people back later, offering the prospect of quick employment.
Job Centres will provide assistance at the event. The morning session, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, is specifically for those needing jobs and receiving jobless benefits. About 3,000 people may attend, meeting numerous employers from sectors like hotels, healthcare, retail, tourism, and education.
The public can attend from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm, with pre-registration available at chriswebb.org/jobsfair. Chris Webb, an MP, organized the event, with Alison McGovern, an Employment Minister, providing support. They will visit The Cliffs Hotel, noting that Choice Hotels works with both job centers and Blackpool College.
Webb emphasized that wages are quite low in Blackpool, creating a barrier to growth, and access to good jobs is really key. The jobs fair will feature entry-level roles designed to connect people with good jobs that offer great pay and career opportunities.
The event has the potential to significantly impact the community, as good jobs boost mental health, potentially reduce crime, and foster more stable families. A good job can change lives, bringing real security where people find meaning and purpose, and potentially end poverty too.
Webb aims to raise wages in Blackpool, where the average weekly wage is currently only £591, compared to the North West average of £696 and the national average of £728. The jobs fair will be held on February 27, 2025, opening at Winter Gardens. Jobless benefit recipients can attend from 9:30-12:30, followed by the public from 12:30-4:30.
