Sixteen cottages are planned to add to the twenty existing lodges near Llangollen Canal, boosting tourism.

Right now, the site has twenty lodges that opened back in 2022. The complex sits beside the Llangollen Canal.
Mark Perry reviewed the plans, noting that the applicant built up the business over time and that it’s now a well-known tourist spot.
This new request addresses existing caravans, some of which are not where they should be. The plan aims to fix their placement.
The total number of lodges would reach thirty-six, involving six existing sizes plus ten smaller ones. The plan should also create two full-time and one part-time job.
The parish council and the public support this project, and the Canal and River Trust did not object. Perry said that the expansion is smart and reasonable for an existing business.
The location helps meet sustainability goals, as the site benefits from local services nearby. Local facilities and tourist spots are close, including the Mere and the Canal.
The project won’t hurt the visuals of the area. Landscaping and ecology will improve the area and access to the site will be safe. Traffic from the site won’t be a problem, and the project should bring economic benefits by attracting more tourists to the local economy.
