Hey, guess what happened at that B&M store? The one at Merrielands Retail Park shut down on February 5. Someone complained about a “pest issue,” and the council’s environmental health team looked into it.

They decided the store needed to close temporarily because proper treatment was needed to eliminate the pest problem. B&M initially said the closure happened voluntarily, stating that staff needed to do some checks.

Someone posted a picture online showing a sign on the B&M entrance. The sign mentioned an “IT comms failure” as the cause. But, the council says pest control work is still happening at the Dagenham store now.

A council person said they got a complaint concerning a pest issue at the B&M. The team visited the store quickly, then they closed the store as mentioned to stop the infestation.

The council checked the work last week, but it’s still not finished yet. They take these problems quite seriously and will work with B&M’s management to makes sure precautions are maintained, preventing future problems. The council contacted B&M for more information.
