The body was found in Powys’ Claerwen Reservoir around 8:30 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024. Officers believe he might have been in the water for approximately 12 weeks.
Detective Inspector Anthea Ponting expressed gratitude to everyone who has already provided assistance.
The man was estimated to be between 30 and 60 years old, confirmed by a post-mortem examination. He was approximately six feet tall and was wearing a size XL Zone 3 Agile wetsuit.
Given the wetsuit size, he may have been quite tall, possibly between six feet and six feet five inches. He likely weighed between 202 and 220 pounds, with a chest size of 44 to 48 inches.
DI Ponting stated that they have undertaken numerous investigative steps, including checking missing persons records and conducting forensic work locally and elsewhere. They have also collaborated with law enforcement partners. Despite these efforts, his identity remains unknown.
Police are exploring all avenues to ascertain his identity, locate his family, and determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
