A body in a wetsuit was found in Claerwen Reservoir, Wales. Identification efforts stall. Police seek public’s help to solve mystery.

Locals say no one swims there, and the area is very isolated. Tourists rarely visit this “lonely place.” Police think he was there for up to twelve weeks. The body was very decayed when found, and DNA and fingerprints gave no results.
Police find the lack of clues “highly unusual.” The bus stop is seven miles away. They found no car, bike, clothes, phone, or wallet. He was a white man, aged 30 to 60.
He wore an extra-large wetsuit, and police estimate he was 6′ to 6’5″ tall. They think he weighed 202 to 220 pounds, with a chest size of 44 to 48 inches. It’s been months without answers, a detective said.
Police asked UK forces to check missing persons and also contacted Interpol. A rambling group leader never saw anyone swim there, stating it can be very dangerous. The water can get very cold there.
A shop owner said most tourists stay in Elan Valley, and few go to Claerwen dam. She said it’s a very lonely place. This has led some to wonder if someone dumped him there, but then they ask, why put him in a wetsuit?
Police are keeping an open mind, acknowledging it’s not a swimming area, but swimming could still happen. The detective wants information to help them find his family and understand what happened.
Police ask anyone who visited the reservoir between July and October 18 to contact them. They ask anyone with info to come forward, as something mentioned might relate to someone missing. Maybe you know someone who is gone.
